Sustainable 20,000 sq/ft Foodhall and Retail Outlet

ADA designed a dual temperature transcritical CO2 refrigeration system for M&S. This advanced system was installed for their new 20,000 sqft foodhall and the back of house cold rooms in an existing unit of a multi-level shopping mall. Given that the mall was already in operation, the installation presented extra challenges in terms of bringing necessary utilities, equipment, and machinery on site.

Solution:

M&S wished to maximise the use of the current infrastructure to limit the need for structural modifications and control the cost of new utilities and machinery. Coordinating with architects, structural and mechanical designers, among others, ADA helped develop a comprehensive, robust design solution. By delivering multiple dual-temperature systems, ADA created a diverse solution for M&S.

ADA also stepped in to assist M&S with the procurement of key long lead-time refrigeration items, ensuring the project remained on schedule. Furthermore, ADA was on hand to support M&S through major design modifications at several stages during the design and installation period.

Conclusion:

The store’s final design, significantly influenced by ADA’s expertise, has garnered positive feedback from all involved stakeholders and the general public.
